So here we are in 2017. Last year was a challenge for a number of reasons, mostly involving a transfer in my job-life that destroyed most of my sanity. Additionally I've begun writing a significant amount as well as put serious time into a home-brewed rpg system so my time has been stretched thin.

It's been nearly a year since my last journal post and to be honest there hasn't been much reason for me to post. That said I do want to give a shout out to those of you who still follow me. I hope 2017 is a more interesting year for all of you as I will endeavor to post more work. Thanks for hanging in there with me and I hope your new years treat you all well!

10,000?

2 min read
Goodness! I've passed 10,000 pageviews. When I started posting things here I never expected to reach this mark. Yes, 10,000 is chump-change for many of the far, far more prolific, dedicated, and talented here. Still, for what it is, you all have my sincere thanks!

As for updates, there will be more. I have been chipping away at the Fire Emblem Fates units. As I do so, I have begun doing more and more from scratch. That may not sound like much - this is a site dedicated to the creation of original artwork after all - but I originally started doing spriting by modifying (sometimes substantially) the sprites used for the gba Fire Emblem games. It only seemed natural. However, as I have grown in skill, and as the volume of characters and classes I have designed has grown, the old poses given to me by those great games has become insufficient.

I hope that as those of you who are kind enough to follow my work continue to do so you enjoy it. I do what I do not for recognition but, as I have always said, so that future spriters might have inspiration to elevate their own skills.

Thank you all, again!

Life continues to get in the way of, well, most things art related. My real life job has me very, very busy. Especially at this time of the year. That being said, I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has been watching me. I also wanted to thank all of the talented people who I get to watch. Thank you for sharing your wonderful work with all of us!

Here's to hoping for a more productive year in 2016!

Goodness, where has the time gone? I am atrocious at updating things (my facebook is a history lesson of my life, not at all current). I have posted a small teaser today of what I've been working on. I work in crazes, throwing all of my weight behind a particular series or idea for upwards of a month, then suddenly shifting gears to something else. The Fire Emblem spriting has been a project I've worked off and on with for almost three years now, and was put together in a similarly short-spurts-of creativity work method.

I have played much Fire Emblem Awakening and absolutely love the game. What impresses me most is how much I was impressed. I had been following the game very closely since it was released a year ago, never imagining that it would be ported to the States so when it finally did arrive I pretty much knew the whole plot (I had watched much "Let's Plays" of the Japanese version on youtube). Despite all of that, the wonderful script and fantastic music (which I had been unable to appreciate via the aforementioned youtube vids) sold me on it. A truly great game, and one I encourage all fans of turn-based strategy to indulge in.

Finally I want to thank the few of you who have been kind enough to comment and even "like" some of my work. For being a labor of love, and never intended to be shared, I am truly touched. When I thought "Hey, I wonder if anyone would benefit from this stuff?" I was really just trying to give back. I'm an image zombie, and typically lurk the internet grabbing artwork from wherever I can get it. I figured it was time I give back.

Thank you all!

Since one of the only comments I've received thusfar has been a rather bluntly (read rudely) crafted message about my upload quality, let me make a few things clear.

First off, thanks for dropping by! I realize deviantART is a big place awash in the even bigger sea of the internet and finding this place probably took at lease a few seconds of searching. I appreciate that!

Secondly, the sprites you see here are the work of, wait for it, my spare time. I have been tooling around with these for the last two years. I'm not looking to become a spriter by trade, I'm not here to hone my craft. I appreciate constructive feedback, but will not tolerate rudeness. I'm an amateur not a professional, and this is my page. Like it or not, I don't tolerate typical internet inconsiderateness here.

Thirdly I never intended to make any of these public when I started working on them. Spriting has always just been a way for me to fulfill a creative need. Still, I have sat on this page for a few years and wondered if people might be interested in seeing some of what I have toiled away at. So in short, none of this was ever created at the start with the intention of it being seen by others, so it may look unpolished. *shrug*

Finally since these were all made in my spare time and I never really figured I'd share them, I have been combing the internet looking for sprites to work with and then adapting them for my own needs. As such, if you think you see something that looks like it was based on your work please contact me and I will be happy to either give you credit or remove the image. I'm not here to create a stir or take credit for someone else's work.

Again, thank you for looking around, and please be respectful.
